The Reviber solution to cellulite

The Reviber solution to cellulite

This weeks blog is written by one of our fitness consultants, Sinead, who is our Pilates instructor with over 25 years experience.  Sinead has developed our products and the fitness programmes from her wealth of experience as head of Pilates at central school of ballet, triyoga, Pilates Off The Square and James D'Silva studio's.

Often customers ask technical questions, for instance is a specific Reviber product suitable for them? Sinead advises us, so if you need to put a face to the name then she’s on the Reviber Fusion workout film.

We’re very close to launching our new product, the Reviber Vibrating Foam Roller. Sinead has been instrumental in its development with the key being its impact on cellulite, mobility and flexibility. Sinead’s words on cellulite follow; what it is, what can be done to reduce it and some information on the Reviber Vibrating Foam Roller....

Cellulite

It's not catching, it is a mystery that sometimes we unwittingly make worse.  Let’s try to demystify it.

So who gets cellulite?

Larger people get it...

Thinner people get it...

People who exercise a lot...

People who don't exercise at all

So what is cellulite?

There are many poor explanations on the web which only succeed in helping us to stay in the dark on the subject.

In truth cellulite is a misleading word. It leads us to believe that we are helpless to do anything about it. That we are at the mercy of pharmaceutical companies and cosmetic surgery.

But, there are things we can do to help combat cellulite.

Read on to get the information to help you get the knowledge.

If we stop to think about the body and think about our posture and alignment we can make changes. We can reduce the toxins, puffiness and congestion. It is possible to smooth out the lines of the body with the correct know how.

Our posture and alignment is held together by fascia. It affects and governs the way we hold ourselves. Fascia tissue wraps and connects the muscle, bones, nerves and blood vessels of the body.

There are different layers of fascia, hence the varied look of the skin.

The top layer of fascia can look lumpy and bumpy. This is the fascia on the surface sticking to the skin. Deep indents that even a sun tan can't camouflage are the deeper fascia layers.

These indents are deeply intertwined with our physical structure.

Essentially fascia has become stuck.

The deep layers can be difficult to reach.

As we live our lives the fascia becomes tight and bound up. It presents itself as the visual skin surface we call cellulite. It also causes many of the aches and pains that need treatment.

So this means the fibres are no longer neatly lined up as they were in our youth. They become clumped together, tangled, matted even wadded together.

This can make it painful for sensitive tissue that is reactive when worked on.

For instance, scar tissue is painful and sensitive when broken down. This is why physical therapy can hurt.

Everyone wants better posture and to lose an ache or a pain. Who doesn't want to be slimmer looking and have longer looking limbs? All these things help with confidence that helps us feel better in life. re-educating what we think about our bodies is a good place to start.

Sounds good right? Let's get started!

Drink More Water!

The first thing is simple - drink more water.  Filtered water is even better. This is your best start. Fascia tissue loves water. Your body is made of the stuff. Many pains disappear with proper hydration.

You can make a start by leaving a note on your fridge saying DRINK WATER!  Have a glass of water between meals, as when you want to snack you are often just thirsty.  Your body will thank you!

Get to grips with foam rolling

At Reviber we're just about to launch our Vibrating Foam Roller. It's designed to correct tight fascia created by poor posture and shallow breathing, ineffective work out routines and the daily grind of repetitive motion.

You are in control of the deep massage and release this machine can give you.

The roller battles the cellulite. It does this by pressing directly on the target areas of adhered fascia, which actually may need attention where you least expect it.

It presses and irons out the fascia depending on which surface of the roller you use. The flat surface is to pull the surface tight again after the deep kneading massage of the fingers and thumbs.

How to get the most out of your foam roller

Heating up the muscles first is your best option to dimple free skin..

'Heating how?' I hear you ask...

At Reviber, our favourite thing to warm up the body is to jump on the Fusion toning plate. A quick workout raises the heart rate and take the body through some moves and stretches..

Also (SPOILER ALERT)

We have a new heated massager on its way. It's a double whammy as this vibrates and heats the muscles up when used! Setting it to add heat whilst you massage with it is a great way to warm up the muscles and be ready to roll.

Or try a sauna or hot bath then roll to your heart’s content to move that fascia.. it's not rocket science but Reviber body science.

So the clever bit is that foam rolling has a proven track record of reducing pain and cellulite.

Reviber rolling is designed with this in mind. It has the bonus quick hit factor because of its vibration. The vibrations from the roller stimulate the massaged area as the roller covers the surface. It's working in two ways with the vibration and surface rolling.

The clever design of fingers thumbs and palms on the surface of the roller act very much like the palms of hands and fingers and thumbs of a masseuse.

It's density is also soft enough not to hurt the muscles and flesh that it rolls on. Some rollers are incredibly firm. If they are too hard the muscle does not benefit . The Reviber roller is just right to roll the surface and access the deeper tissue too. Happy rolling...
